I'm happy and a little flabergasted that
Google
is currently ranking Common Craft at the very top position, #1, for the search term "Weblogs and Business".
I was happy with first page results for such a hot category, but I thought that my chances at #1 would be slim to nil- surely there would be other sites with more
Google
juice than Common Craft talking about Weblogs and business. But, it's there and I'm marking this as a goal acheived. The best part is that it only took my time- no advertising budget for this one. Weblogs rock.
Now, I should just be able to sit back and let the referrals roll-in- right? Hah! If it were only that easy. I am getting some good click throughs, but only time will tell if this (perhaps short-term) position will yield any real value.
There are some specific strategies I'm using to get these results- and none of them are hidden. It's only a matter of knowing the phrases(niches) you want to target, writing about them and giving
Google
what it wants for it's ranking system.
I'm thinking about creating a case study that outlines, very specifically, my strategy for getting a #1 ranking- do you folks think that would be interesting?
